/->/ Do you deny crystallography? // Do you hear voices in other people s heads? // If not, the DADA list may be precisely what you need most. // die do da dada list ist mehr als "nur" eine zusammenrottung von dadatextautomaten // sie produziert und laboriert sowohl scharf an der dadagrenze // als auch an der sprachexperimentellen kippe // ein somit sehr traditionelles work-in-progress //

>> DADA METHODOLOGY
>> / source /

// robert whyte //

1. Renounce all methodologies

2. Deny everything

3. Liberally sprinkle with inappropriate hyperbole, even when you most expect it.

4. Be polysyllabic. The iambic is more than pentametrical. (This is a pervasive modifer which seems to be beyond the dominion of other modifiers).

5. Be declamatory. Everything is a manifesto. Even Morgenstern. 6. Delight in error. Climb every clinamen.

7. In order to rupture sense, always make sense.

8. Lists are good.

9. Study grammar and apply its convolutions mischeviously, especially recursive homonyms, wild zeugma, mock turtle. 10. Subject matter, while appearing internal to dada is always only one step away from the pedestrian, the quotidian, the cliched ... so that dada may puncture pretension, deflate pomposity, dispute ownership, and decry the boring.

Really what I'm talking about here is technique, not principles. "How to dada", not "What is dada". But dada pervades.

Is dada capricious? If so, how come it's so much fun?

We learn, it appears, by bedding in habitual synaptic pathways. This is an example of organisms tending towards entropy, even though "life" is thought to be the only negentropic force in the material universe. That is, it's growing, proliferating, becoming more complicated, not "winding down". Entropy, or winding down, or "shutting up shop", in mental terms, is probably biologically motivated by the desire to conserve energy, but in the absence of stimulation, tends toward a state of torpor. Conserve energy for what?

Human beings in a state of torpor tend towards intellectual and moral conservativism. They just get dumber and dumber.
